NOTDEC UK Registered Charity No. 259732
We seek to show the children the
love of Christ in action;
helping them to acquire good quality and safe accommodation, education, health care and skills training,
so that they can play their part in the future of Uganda.
NOTDEC UK is a charity which works with NOTDEC in Uganda to provide a better life for orphan children.
The orphanage has 95 children, all of whom are sponsored by people in the UK, Germany, America and New Zealand. Many of the children have lost their mothers during childbirth or from illnesses such as HIV/AIDS. Other children come from situations where the family is just not able to look after them. All children are screened by the District Probation Officer before they are allowed to join NOTDEC. The intention is to accommodate a maximum of 100 children.
To house a care for these children we are currently in the middle of an extensive building programme. Six accommodation bungalows have been built each housing 12 children and their housemothers. One is acting as the baby home where there are currently 12 babies under the age of two being cared for by six housemothers.
The classroom block has also been built where the children of nursery school age are taught. Once the children are capable of attending school, they, along with the older NOTDEC children, attend Kagando Primary School. Children of secondary school age attend local secondary schools.
A staff accommodation block was completed in October 2011 to provide homes for the nursery teachers and the driver of the NOTDEC vehicles. An administrative block has also been completed. Work has begun on a multipurpose hall/chapel and once that is finished the building of a 7th bungalow will start. A further £100,000 is required to complete the building work.
Every penny donated has been sent to NOTDEC Uganda either for the construction work or for the ongoing care of the children.
A real opportunity to make a difference to children in Africa
